 Fresh Memory 0.4-alpha
by Mykhaylo Kopytonenko - Thu, Nov 20th 2008 21:47 UTC

About: Fresh Memory is a program for studying foreign words. It can manage flashcards stored in dictionaries. The user can create and edit the dictionaries. The flashcards are used to study words with word drills (random flashcard browsing) or spaced repetition. It can also be used to study any structured data. The examples could be capitals of countries, chemical elements, or even birthdays of friends.

Changes: A spaced repetition algorithm based on SM-2. The study data is kept in a user-specific directory. Support for multiple fields in cards. A dictionary can have cards with many languages. All dictionaries, cards, and fields are identified with UUIDs. It is possible to add/remove cards or fields in a dictionary without any negative effects to the study data. Support for image includes. Basic HTML tags. Backwards compatibility with 0.3 version dictionaries

 boxtream 0.999
by Jerome Alet - Thu, Nov 20th 2008 21:46 UTC

About: Boxtream is both an audio and video encoder and streamer and an assembly of audio and video hardware, forming a mobile video streaming studio. It is designed to easily record and stream live presentations, including a presenter and synchronized slides, or slides only, or presenter only. It was built to stream live courses over the Internet for distance learning students. It supports and autodetects several brands and models of video switchers. It can be entirely controlled remotely over XML-RPC, and includes an X11 interface. By default, it supports five different streaming and recording scenarios. The software part can also be used with very minimal hardware, like a DV camcorder and a laptop.

Changes: For the very first time, three basic scenarios have been added for people with minimalistic hardware like a single USB Webcam or mini-DV camcorder, so finally Boxtream can be used by everybody. An example script to start both the backend and the frontend on the local machine has been added to further simplify use. Axis Webcams are now handled with the souphttpsrc GStreamer plugin. Minor bugs were fixed all over the place. A small French presentation of the project's history was added to the distribution in the OpenDocument format.

These new helpers bring support for more inline elements, such as acronym, abbreviation, cite, code, span, etc. Many bugs have been fixed since beta1. The documentation and the test suite have been improved. New example pages have been added. Last but not least, work is being done on a WYMeditor-based RDFa editor. A proof of concept is available in the package or the repository browser.

 Low-Level Virtual Machine 2.4
by Misha Brukman - Thu, Nov 20th 2008 18:08 UTC

About: Low-Level Virtual Machine (LLVM) is a compiler infrastructure designed for compile-time, link-time, run-time, and "idle-time" optimization of programs from arbitrary programming languages. It currently supports compilation of C, Objective-C, and C++ programs, using front-ends derived from GCC 4.0, GCC 4.2, and a custom new front-end, "clang". It supports x86, x86_64, ia64, PowerPC, and SPARC, with support for Alpha and ARM under development.

Changes: This release includes improved compilation speed, support for multiple return values in LLVM IR, and initial support for PIC16. llvmc2 (the generic compiler driver) gained plugin support. It is now easier to experiment with llvmc2 and build your own tools based on it. This release also includes an optional build system based on CMake. It still is in its early stages, but can be useful for Visual C++ users who cannot use the Visual Studio IDE. Other improvements in LLVM internals include a more efficient representation that leads to lower memory usage and better vector support.

 iTunes Playlist Export 1.5
by Eric Daugherty - Thu, Nov 20th 2008 09:00 UTC

About: iTunes Export provides the ability to export iTunes Playlists to the standard .m3u file format. Unfortunately, this feature is not included in the iTunes application and is extremely useful for users who wish to use iTunes with other applications or devices. iTunes Export is written in C# (.Net). iTunes Export provides a Command Line version (tested on Mono) and a GUI version, as well as a library that developers can use in their own applications.

Changes: An issue with invalid characters in playlist filenames was fixed. Some characters are valid in playlist names (within iTunes), but not valid in filenames for the resulting playlist files. Multi-Language support was added for the GUI version. Descriptions are now available in English and French. The Library reader and all playlist writers were updated to use UTF-8 encoding.
