About:
CFITSIO is a library of C and Fortran subroutines for
reading and writing data files in the FITS (Flexible Image
Transport System) data format. It simplifies the task of
writing software that deals with FITS files by providing an
easy to use set of high-level routines that insulate the
programmer from the internal complexities of the FITS file
format.
Release focus: Minor feature enhancements
Changes:
A new BYTEPIX compression parameter when
tile-compressing images with the Rice algorithm
was added. The NAXIS and NAXISn keyword values are
cached in the fitsio structure for efficiency.
Variants of the Rice compression and uncompression
routines were added to support short int images.
The efficiency when compressing integer images
with gzip was improved. Numerous bugs were fixed.
